Terms of Service

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use Shelf'd. By creating an account you confirm that you meet this requirement. We reserve the right to terminate accounts where we have reason to believe this is not the case.

2. Your account

• You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure.
• You may only create one account. Duplicate accounts may be removed.
• You must provide accurate information when creating your profile.
• You can delete your account at any time from the app settings.

3. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Impersonate another person or create a fake profile.
• Harass, threaten, or abuse other users.
• Send unsolicited commercial messages (spam).
• Share explicit, violent, or illegal content.
• Scrape, crawl, or automate any part of the service.
• Attempt to access another user's account or data.
• Use the platform for any unlawful purpose.

Violations may result in immediate account suspension or permanent ban.

4. Content you post

You retain ownership of the photos and text you upload. By posting content on Shelf'd you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to display that content to other users as part of the service.

You are solely responsible for ensuring your content does not infringe third-party rights (e.g. copyright in photos you did not take).

5. Matching and messaging

Messaging is only available between two users who have mutually liked each other. Shelf'd does not guarantee any matches. We are a platform, not a matchmaking service.

6. Book links and affiliate disclosure

Wishlist books may include Amazon affiliate links. If you purchase a book through one of these links, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. This helps keep Shelf'd free.

7. Service availability

We aim for high availability but cannot guarantee uninterrupted access. We may suspend the service for maintenance or to address security issues. We will communicate planned downtime where possible.

8. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or permanently terminate accounts that violate these terms. You may terminate your account at any time. On termination, your data will be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

9. Limitation of liability

Shelf'd is provided "as is". To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude all liability for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the platform, including but not limited to loss arising from interactions with other users.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We will notify you by email or in-app notice before material changes take effect. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new terms.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of France. Any disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of France.
